Welcome. I'm So Glad You're Here.

You Love God. You Love Your Children. And Some Days, You're Just Barely Holding It Together.

You didn't expect motherhood to bring so much of your past to the surface. But here you are, snapping at the kids, lying awake at 2 am, wondering why the same old wounds keep showing up no matter how hard you pray or how much you try.

You're not broken. And you're not failing. You're just carrying more than you were meant to carry alone.

At Root of Life Counseling, you'll find a therapist who understands both the clinical depth of trauma and the tender reality of being a woman of faith. This is a space where your story is honored, your beliefs are respected, and real, lasting healing is possible.

About Me

I'm Lynn V. Jones, MA, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor, trauma-informed therapist, and Christian counselor serving women across Washington and Iowa via secure telehealth. I specialize in working with Christian mothers who are ready to stop managing their pain and start healing it at the root.

Whether you're a mom of littles drowning in daily overwhelm, a mom of teens navigating conflict and disconnection, or a mom of adult children wrestling with grief, estrangement, or a faith that's been shaken, you deserve support that meets you exactly where you are.

My approach blends evidence-based trauma therapy (including EMDR and Lifespan Integration) with a genuine, faith-honoring perspective. We don't have to choose between clinical healing and spiritual truth. Here, they work together.

Healing That Goes to the Root

Anxiety. Emotional reactivity. Feeling stuck in the same old patterns. These aren't character flaws. They're often the natural result of unresolved wounds that never received the care they deserved.

You've prayed, journaled, tried to "take every thought captive," yet you still feel stuck. Faith-based counseling for moms and trauma healing honors your relationship with God as a genuine source of strength. It integrates that faith into the therapeutic process so that healing doesn't feel like it conflicts with who you are. This isn't about being told to pray more, but doing the deep work your heart and nervous system have been asking for, with a therapist who understands what you’re facing.

Here’s how we work together:

Therapy for Moms

For the mom who loves her family deeply and is exhausted by how hard it still feels.

Motherhood has a way of surfacing everything you thought you'd moved past. The triggers, the guilt, the moments you don't recognize yourself. Therapy for moms is a space to understand what's underneath the overwhelm, heal old wounds that are showing up in your parenting, and become the grounded, present mother you want to be without the shame and without pretending everything is fine.

Whether your children are toddlers or adults, it is never too late to do this work for yourself and for them.

Trauma Therapy

For the woman who has been carrying something heavy for a long, long time.

Trauma doesn't always look like a single dramatic event. Sometimes it looks like a childhood where you never felt safe, a relationship that slowly eroded your sense of self, a birth experience that left you shaken, or a church hurt that quietly fractured your faith. Trauma therapy, including EMDR and Lifespan Integration, helps your brain and nervous system finally process what talk therapy alone often can't reach.

You don't have to relive every detail. You have to be willing to begin.

A Christian Therapist Who Gets It

Lynn V. Jones, MA, LMHC, is a licensed psychotherapist, State Approved Supervisor in Washington, and fully licensed in Iowa. She's also a mom to a vibrant 7-year-old girl and an adventurous 3-year-old boy. She knows firsthand how deeply motherhood, faith, and healing are intertwined.

Lynn's path into trauma-informed counseling was shaped by both her professional training and her personal faith. She saw a gap in the therapeutic world, a need for work that held both psychological depth and genuine spiritual respect, and she built her practice around filling it.

Her approach is grounded in relational safety, nervous system regulation, and layered healing.

That means no quick fixes, no oversimplified spiritual answers, and no pressure to be further along than you are. Just steady, honest, clinically informed work with a therapist who brings her whole self to the room and invites you to do the same.

She works with teens and adults via secure telehealth, making quality trauma therapy accessible across Washington and Iowa.

"I am so thankful for the Lifespan Integration and EMDR work I did with Lynn. It helped me work through my past, including sexual abuse and co-dependency. She is easy to open up to, and her approach really helped me rewire old thought patterns that no longer served me and were weighing me down."
